Stand Out is powered by
UpRising and
One Million Mentors.
In Manchester we are working in partnership with youth leadership and social change organisation Reclaim
The Stand Out programme is generously funded by Youth Futures Foundation which was established to find, fund, support and evaluate programmes which help young people to move into meaningful work. Unemployment amongst 16-24-year olds is currently four times as high as any other age group; those from the most disadvantaged backgrounds face the biggest challenge in getting a job.

One Million Mentors (1MM) is a flagship initiative developed by UpRising. 1MM exists to recruit, train, and deploy one million mentors to help one million young people as they transition into further and higher education or the world of work. 1MM is a community-based model working with local charities, educational institutions, and employers to boost support and advice for young people in the areas of education, employment and social action. Since 2017, 1MM has connected more than 2000 young people with mentors, who have collectively given up to 20,000 hours of time to support the next generation.
UpRising is a charity, founded in 2008 to build the leadership and employability skills of young people from diverse backgrounds. Since then, we have enabled thousands of unemployed and underemployed young people (including graduates) from Black, ethnic minority and White working-class backgrounds into work and leadership roles. Our alumni have in turn used their networks and social action campaigns to mobilise nearly 20,000 other young people in their communities.
